Instructor: Lane Vosbury Course: MAC 2311 Calculus I Text: Calculus Tenth Edition by Larson, Edwards WebAssign: Class Key: scc-fl 9721 7277 Section: 2500
Grading: Exams--Each exam will count 100 points. There will be no make-up exams but one exam may be re-taken at the end of the semester. If an exam is missed, that will be the exam "re-taken" at the end of the semester. Exam 1: Sections 1.1 - 1.5 Exam 2: Sections 2.1 - 2.6 Exam 3: Sections 3.1 - 3.9 Exam 4: Sections 4.1 - 4.6 Exam 5: Sections 5.1 - 5.5, 6.1-6.3 You will receive a handout in class detailing how your grade will be calculated. What you see here is a rough idea.
Quiz Grades: Quiz problems will be executed in class on most days when an exam is not given. These "Quiz" problems will be done with collective help from all students and the teacher. The combined quiz scores will have the weight of approximately one exam and count 100 points. Homework: Homework will be done using Enhanced WebAssign and will count approximately the same as one exam (100 points). Extra Credit: Extra points can be earned by doing selected extra credit problems. You can seek help in doing extra credit problems but you should understand what you have done before turning it in. You may be asked to come to my office to explain to me your solution to an extra credit problem. All extra credit must be turned in before the last day of class. Attendance: Seminole State has a stated policy that a student may be withdrawn from a class by the instructor if he/she misses more than 10% of the classes. Although I do not go to this extreme, I will not award credit for a course if the student does not attend class regularly. Withdrawal Policy: You need to withdraw yourself before the withdrawal deadline (March 24) if you do not wish to receive a grade for the course.
If fire, weather, or any other circumstance occurs that might lead to a cancellation of classes, call the following number to find out whether or not the college has closed. 407-708-4722
This syllabus is subject to such changes as the instructor may deem necessary and will announce in class. You are responsible for any changes announced in class.
