Instructor: Lane Vosbury Course: MAC 2313 Calculus III Text: Calculus Tenth Edition by Larson, Edwards WebAssign: Class Key: scc-fl 1589 1734 Section: 3424
Grading: Exams--Each exam will count 100 points. There will be no make-up exams but one exam may be re-taken at the end of the semester. If an exam is missed, that will be the exam "re-taken" at the end of the semester. Exam 1: Sections 11.1 - 11.5 Exam 2: Sections 12.1 - 12.5 Exam 3: Sections 13.1 - 13.9 Exam 4: Sections 14.1 - 14.8 Exam 5: Sections 15.1 - 15.3+
You will receive a handout in class detailing how your grade will be calculated. What you see here is a rough idea.
Quiz Grades: Quiz problems will be executed in class on most days when an exam is not given. These "Quiz" problems will be done with collective help from all students and the teacher. The combined quiz scores will have the weight of approximately one exam and count 100 points. Homework: Homework to be graded will be done using WebAssign. Homework will count as much as approximately one exam and the total homework score for the semester will be 100 points. Extra Credit: Extra points can be earned by doing selected extra credit problems. You can seek help in doing extra credit problems but you should understand what you have done before turning it in. You may be asked to come to my office to explain to me your solution to an extra credit problem. All extra credit must be turned in before the last day of class. Attendance: Seminole State has a stated policy that a student may be withdrawn from a class by the instructor if he/she misses 10% of the classes or more. You may be withdrawn if you miss more than 4 classes in this course. Withdrawal Policy: You need to withdraw yourself before the withdrawal deadline (March 24) if you do not wish to receive a grade for the course so do not assume that if you miss more than 4 classes you have been withdrawn.
If fire, weather, or any other circumstance occurs that might lead to a cancellation of classes, call the following number to find out whether or not the college has closed. 407-708-4722
This syllabus is subject to such changes as the instructor may deem necessary and will announce in class. You are responsible for any changes announced in class.
You should have successfully completed MAC 2312, Calculus II, or its equivalent before enrolling in this course. The Mathematics Department will not support a petition for a refund for the cost of tuition if you do not meet the prerequisites for this course and do not withdraw before the end of Add/Drop.
You need a graphing calculator for this course (required). A TI-84 Plus Silver Edition or a TI-89 (Titanium) is recommended. Maple would be a huge help. Maple will be used extensively in this course and will be available in class and during exams. The student version is available for purchase at a reduced rate. Click here for purchase information. It will not be required that you purchase your own copy of Maple but highly recommended since it is a wonderful tool and very helpful in this course and Differential Equations. This is a listing of problems from your textbook. Your homework will be done in WebAssign. 11.1: 1, 5, 7, 31, 33, 45, 48, 56, 63, 66, 70 11.2: 8, 11, 12, 26, 29, 36, 38, 39, 42, 45, 53, 59, 64, 73 11.3: 2, 10, 11, 13, 16, 20, 23, 31, 34, 36, 49, 59, 73 11.4: 1, 3, 8, 11, 28, 36, 41, 46 11.5: 7, 11, 15, 18, 20, 31, 41, 44, 47, 50, 52, 54, 56, 63, 65, 91, 95, 97, 104, 106, 127 12.1: 2, 13, 15, 19, 31, 37, 49, 53, 69, 73, 75, 76, 89 12.2: 11, 13, 16, 18, 24, 25, 33, 53, 64, 67, 70 12.3: 12, 27, 30, 31, 38, 40, 42 12.4: 6, 19, 30, 35, 36, 45, 78 12.5: 7, 19, 21, 28, 41, 50, 55, 63, 73, 83, 84, 97 13.1: 8, 18, 19, 45, 46, 48, 51, 75 13.2: 5, 6, 7, 16, 23, 34, 38, 43, 47, 48, 53, 67 13.3: 5, 13, 17, 21, 31, 45, 49, 54, 62, 66, 78, 83, 122, 123 13.4: 1, 2, 5, 7 13.5: 1, 3, 5, 10, 16, 17, 23, 28, 31, 34, 38, 47, 54, 58 13.6: 2, 4, 5, 7, 14, 19, 21, 22, 32, 42, 46, 54, 58, 65, 69 13.7: 5, 7, 20, 22, 32, 35, 42, 43, 50, 51, 55, 61 13.8: 1, 5, 8, 13, 16, 21, 24, 26, 32, 34, 35, 43, 45, 47 13.9: 3, 5, 9, 10, 25, 34, 35 14.1: 1, 5, 11, 13, 23, 30, 31, 37, 38, 53 14.2: 7, 9, 10, 18, 22, 26, 27, 28, 35, 54 14.3: 1, 2, 9, 12, 14, 19, 35, 40, 45, 48, 49 14.4: 2, 11, 12, 17, 22 14.5: 1, 5, 10, 12, 14 14.6: 1, 5, 8, 9, 11, 13, 16, 20, 22, 40 14.7: 1, 2, 6, 8, 12, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22 14.8: 1, 3, 6, 11, 17, 25 Chapter 15: Worksheet
